I first spoke to Becky at the turn of the year. She was looking for a laidback, professional, reliable photographer. That’s me! We hit it off straight away (a very important part of shooting someone’s wedding) which was a good sign. But for me it was even better when she mentioned the venue – Stockport Town Hall.
Despite being a Stockport Wedding Photographer, I hadn’t yet shot there. Last year I shot weddings across Liverpool and Manchester but Stockport was thin on the ground. I did shoot at the iconic Masonic Guildhall – but it was covered head to toe in scaffolding!
So I was looking forward to this one. Working 15 minutes from my front door is always a bonus too!

Becky and Chris opted for a small wedding – just themselves and two witnesses, close family friends. The registry office at Stockport Town Hall was therefore the venue of choice, offering a compact room and quick service.
While couples at the registry can’t access the famous aesthetic staircases of Stockport Town Hall, the outside of the building is still beautiful and perfect for photos after the ceremony.

This was initially a 2 hour booking. But one of the witnesses took me aside and asked if I was free for the rest of the day. Unbeknownst to the bride, Becky, an entire surprise party had been arranged to celebrate the newlyweds. So I had to hotfoot it to Holmes Chapel to get there before them!

The Fox & Hounds pub in Sproston, Crewe, was the perfect venue. It had a large marquee set up with plenty of room and plenty of natural light. Also…dogs!

An unexpectedly long day, but it was a joy to be asked back to shoot the surprise wedding reception. Becky & Chris are a lovely couple – congratulations again you two!
